Choosing The Right Lenses

The lens we offer with all our glasses is the thin and light 1.56 index lens. These are ideal for people with low to mid-strength prescriptions with Sphere (SPH) values in the range -4.00 to +4.00.

The 1.56 refers to the Refractive Index of the lens, not its thickness. For stronger prescriptions, on the advice of our Opticians, we recommend a higher index lens.

Simply put, the higher the index the thinner and lighter the lens so, for stronger prescriptions, high index lenses are recommended.

Below you can see how the higher index lenses are much thinner and lighter than the 1.56 index lens for high Distance (-6.00) and Reading (+4.00) prescriptions.
